 Trolebús
Location: Av. 10 de Agosto, green stops.

The Integrated Bus System otherwise known as Trolebús and Ecovía, are part of Quito’s Municipal System. The Trolebús has two main stations: The North Station, located at 10 de Agosto Avenue- around the “La Y” sector, behind the bullfight arena (Plaza de Toros); and the South Station located at Pedro Vicente Maldonado Avenue, right in front of the “El Recreo” shopping mall. Also, the south route extends all the way to Morán Valverde Station.
The Trolebús circuits are:
C1: North Station “La Y” – South Station “El Recreo” (Yellow bus) /
Operating Schedule: 05:00 – 24:00
C2: “Morán Valverde” Station – North Station “La Y” (Blue bus) /
Operating Schedule: 05:00 – 24:00
C3: North Station “La Y” – Center of Quito (Red bus) /
Opertating Schedule: 07:30 – 18:00
C4: “Morán Valverde” Station –“La Colón” Stop (Green bus) /
Operating Schedule: 06:30 – 22:00
C5: South Station “El Recreo” –“La Colón” Stop (Green bus) /
Operating Schedule: 06:30 – 20:00
These circuits operate Monday thru Friday. On weekends and holidays only C1 and C2 operate.
From every station, “La Y”, “El Recreo” and “Moran Valverde”, you can take different “Integrated” buses towards the several neighbourhoods in the north or south. You only have to get off the Trolebús and make a line in the platform without paying anything extra, except in the bus that is headed to Calderón, which costs an extra $0.25. The operating Schedules for these “Integrated” buses is: Monday thru Friday; 05:00 to 24:00. In weekends and holidays 06:00 to 22:00.
Taking the Trolebús can be the wisest decision when you need to travel from one end of the city to the other in an agile and traffic-free way. The problem is that during the rush hours there’s a large amount of people trying to do the same and it can get irritating to travel in buses that are so full. In the Ecovía it doesn’t get as bad, but it’s still pretty full during rush hours. | |
