Museums

Museo de Tulipe
Here you will find information about the Yumbo tribe, suspected to have migrated to Mindo in the year 1660 AD. The museum was founded in 2007 and it displays information about the tribe, cemeteries and pools around the area.

Reserva Ecológica Los Cedros
This reserve is home to several species of plants and animals within its 6.000 hectares. There are five signaled circuits within the reserve that can easily guide you through the trails.
Some of the plants you will find: Orchids, ferns, palm trees, cedars and bromeliads, among others.
Some of the animals and insects you will find: Cock of the Rock, an abundance of hummingbirds, tanagers, mountain toucans, cotingas, manakins, frogs, caterpillars and spiders among others.

Other activities

Tubing
In the rainy season, you can rent some inner tire tubes to “raft” your way down the Mindo river.

Tarabita
A local man-made contraption, the tarabita is a wire basket hooked to steel cables that cruises at 152m high across a river basin and reaches the Bosque Protector Mindo-Nambillo on the other side. It’s perfectly safe and recommended for adventure lovers.

Armonia Orchid Garden
Location: Behind the soccer field
This garden has a collection of over 200 orchids.

Mariposas de Mindo
This butterfly farm is home to over 25 different butterfly varieties flying around a 644m2 greenhouse, its Ecuador’s biggest butterfly exhibition in a single space.

Open hours: 9am – 6:30pm

Bird – Watching
Mindo is home to over 500 species of birds and has become a major location for bird-watchers. Of the 32 Bird World Life Zones, 26 are found in Ecuador and Mindo is one of them. Although you require a guide for this activity, we would be happy to supply one.
