 Overview
The Cotopaxi volcano is located inside the 33,393 hectares of one of Ecuador’s most famous national parks, the Cotopaxi National Park. The volcano is located about 75 km south of Quito and it reaches a height of 5.897 meters, it is also one of the few equatorial glaciers in the world. The park is fully equipped with rangers, a small museum, an information center, a climber’s refuge and camping and picnicking areas.
The park offers a lot of activities for people who like adventuring in the Andes. From hiking to horseback riding to guided climbs of the Cotopaxi itself, the National Park is sure to please “páramo” lovers. The wildlife inside the park is sure to impress, the more common wildlife includes rabbits, deer, foxes, wild horses, llamas, pumas and occasionally the very rare Andean Condor. | |
