Museo Nacional Mariscal Sucre
The museum belongs to the national park. Inside it you will find a collection of stuffed animals, a relief map to the volcano and other explanatory materials. The information centre is located here as well.
Admission fee: Included in the park entry fee.
Open Hours: 8am – Noon and 1pm – 5pm
Laguna de Limpiopungo
Limpiopungo is a popular picnicking and hikin area inside the park. It is a shallow lake 3830 m above sea level, there’s a trail that circles the lake and takes about half an hour to walk.
Refugio José Rivas
The climber’s refuge is located at 4800 meters above sea level, it is the first stop for daily tourists and climbers who are going to the top. The refuge will accommodate up to 60 people in sleeping bags without a problem. It has an open dining room, a large living room with a fireplace, a snack bar and all the amenities necessary for comfort including electricity. | |
