 How to get there
There are two bus companies that take you to Pto. Lopez from Quito. Both of them depart from the Cumandá Bus Terminal. It can be a long ride, so be sure to take some comfortable cloths with you to pillow up on the ride. It can take from 10 - 13 hours depending on the road and weather conditions. The ticket is $10 USD.
You can also come from Guayaquil and it is a 4-5 hs ride.
The fastest and most comfortable way of getting there is by plane. Airlines depart to Manta daily on early morning, mid – day and night schedules that are different between each airline. From Manta, you can catch a bus or a transfer to Puerto Lopez, which is 2 and a half hour away.
Moving around Puerto Lopez is not a problem. It is pretty much safe to move around at night. You can also take a mototaxi which has a fixed fee of $0.50 around the city.
