La Casa del Suizo is located on the shore of the Napo river in the Ecuadorian Jungle.
Once at the hotel you will pick one of the following activities:
Misicocha
This visit consist of a hike through primary and secondary forest, along paths where you will be able to appreciate different bird and bug species. There is also a great variety of medicinal plants, whose favors will be explained to you by our guide.
At lunch time, you will have the option to return to the hotel or have your meal in the middle of the jungle.
For the adventurous, there is an activity that takes you down the river on a “balsa” (raft).
Visit to the indigenous family
It is possible to visit a family from the Quichua community of Ahuano, where you will appreciate the traditional rituals of their culture. Plus, the members of this family will show their sustenance methods, that include hunting with blow pipes, their pottery and the making of the chicha de yucca (traditional beverage).
The Island
In this visit, the passenger will have the experience of getting to know the agriculture of the place and admire insects and birds from the zone.
After on you will have the option of going to the butterfly farm (entrance fee not included in the package), where we have 16 species of butterflies.
Lavado de oro (seeking gold)
When the river permits, we are able to take a short canoe ride on the Napo river. Here you will have the chance of seeing the ancestral manner of seeking gold. Our guide will show you and explain to you how gold is washed by using a batea (recipient)
Cosano
We leave early, after breakfast, for a conoe ride that will take approximately 25 minutes, the destin is the Cosano reserve in the Arajuno river. Here we will do some hiking through primary forest and we will be able to refresh by taking a plunge in the river. For the adventourous a buoy ride down the river, to the hotel, can be arranged.
