If you ask any Ecuadorian, almost any dish from our cuisine is about the most delicious treat you can have. Its taste and variety comes from the fact that we have several microclimates and regions, this makes for an astounding variety of preparations and recipes. In a single city, you could find from delicious coconut sauced shrimps, to fried pork with plantain and “mote”, and that’s just to begin with. Preparations differ from region to region; sometimes even of the same dishes. But once you’ve tried them all, you realize that there is nothing wrong with a little variety. In essence, it’s a treat for anyone who enjoys trying new tastes and spices.

Different kinds of fruit will light up the popular markets. You will find so much variety, that it would be almost impossible to try them all. Hence, desserts in Ecuador are different in many ways, because the fruit is always fresh, and exotic tastes will delight you. One important thing, breakfast is considered a light meal, usually with coffee and bread. Lunch is biggest meal in the day, with a soup as an entree and a main dish that usually has some kind of meat, rice and vegetables. Dinner is lighter than lunch, but it will include rice or pasta sometimes.
