Beach/Coast Beach/Coast
The coastal region of Ecuador enjoys a tropical weather throughout the year. It can get very humid on the rainy season, so be sure to protect yourself against insects. Also, if you are traveling to a beach destination don’t forget to protect your skin.

  A couple of bathing suits.
  Sandals/Flip-flops
  Sunglasses
  Mosquito repellent. (Available in stores)
  Sunscreen, tanning cream.
If you are planning to stay in cheaper hostels, it would be a good idea to bring your own twin size sheet set.
  A spare wet clothes bag.
Shampoo, soap, toothpaste and other personal care products.
Aloe Vera, don’t be surprised if you get sun burnt, the sun here is often merciless but some aloe will heal you right up.
If you use a video camera: it is virtually impossible to get MiniDV, 8mm or any type of cassette in the coastal towns (with little exceptions), blank DVDs are easier to get, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Bring enough film from home or buy them in major cities (pharmacies or photo shops).
If you use a film camera: Polaroids are hard to get, find them in film and photo shops in major cities. Film is easy to find, but mostly 100,200 ISO max. 400 ISO is rarely available. Develop them at major cities.
AA Batteries are widely available. But in small coastal towns, it’s quite possible that you won’t find the known brands, mostly you’ll find cheap imitations that last a blink. Special camera batteries and other are hard to find in the villages. Better to bring them from home or major cities.
Female travellers: Feminine care products (tampons, pads, other).
People with children: Diapers are available but they usually aren’t the best quality. Bring a couple of your preferred brand.
People with disabilities: Preferably, don’t travel here by yourself. Handicap ramps, Braille, sign language or any disability assistance is virtually nonexistent.
Senior travellers: Special medication, special sunscreen and other specific needs should be brought with you.
