Travelling with children
Ecuador can be a wonderful experience for young ones to enjoy. It can open their minds to new and amazing cultures, landscapes and perspectives. While travelling with children consider some extra preventive measures and you will have a great time.
Consult your paediatrician at least 3 months prior to travelling so your children have all the vaccines necessary for the trip. Consult your local Disease Control and Prevention Centre or other health institution for specifics.
Taxis or buses will never have a baby seat in them.
Restaurants usually offer baby seats at no cost. The better the restaurant, the bigger the chance to get kid’s meals at half price and baby seats.
Going around big cities in trolleys is usually ok. Taxis will take you anywhere with the trolley in the trunk.
Protect your children from sun exposure and mosquitoes, especially on coastal and tropical zones.
Kids can enjoy a walk in a river or in a mountain, but consult your travel operator about physical requirements for the trip.
Powdered milk is available in most supermarkets and little “tiendas”. Baby food is mostly available in major cities and supermarkets.
Diapers are available in supermarkets in major cities in all sizes and brands. Although when travelling outside these cities, there may not be much variety. | |
